A solution for badly broken down dentitions
If your teeth are badly worn, broken down, or lacking in numbers due to previous extractions, you may be a candidate for a full mouth rehabilitation.
A full mouth rehabilitation, sometimes also known as full mouth reconstruction, involves restoration of most or all of your teeth, and replacement of missing teeth, to restore your mouth to its ideal appearance and function. Usually, a combination of treatments is required, including crowns, veneers, bridges and dental implants.
The first phase of a full mouth rehabilitation is usually digital smile imaging, from which we can plan your treatment. Most patients have several different treatment options, and the smile imaging process allows our patients to see the simulated results of various procedures, so that they can make an informed decision about the treatment they are considering.
After a plan has been made, usually the next stage is changing your bite. Most people with worn teeth need their bite opened, in order to make room for new longer teeth. This process is not as extreme as it sounds, and involves adding height to the teeth in a temporary manner for a period of time to ensure that the new bite is comfortable for you. This is however an extremely important phase and should be completed only by a dentist with a thorough knowledge of the temporomandibular (jaw) joint. After this time, the restoration of your smile can begin.
