If you are frustrated with movement in your upper denture, miss being able to taste your food properly and just wish you had your natural teeth back, an All-on-Six could be the answer for you.

Dental implant surgery offers you a permanent solution for tooth loss, whether it’s just one tooth or multiple teeth. The all-on-six dental implant procedure lets you replace all your teeth with a natural looking and permanent solution.

The all on six implant procedure is a straightforward solution to the multiple problems posed by tooth loss. Dental implants help to prevent bone erosion, food restrictions and loss of confidence (among others). With implant surgery, the replacement teeth act just as your regular teeth would, so you’ll be able to go about your day without having to worry about them dislodging, unlike conventional dentures.

What are all-on-6 dental implants?

With a computer-guided surgery, six implants per jaw are placed in your mouth at the appropriate positions. These act as anchors for the replacement teeth that are then fixed in. As a result, you have a brand new set of teeth that both look and act like your natural teeth. You will be able to speak and eat as you normally would.

Benefits of implants

Just like your regular teeth: Dental implants not only behave like your natural teeth would, but they can last you a lifetime without presenting any signs of decay. In terms of maintenance, you will need to keep up good oral hygiene and visit your dentist for routine check-ups.

No need for diet restrictions: With implants, you can get back to your usual diet without worrying about your teeth becoming dislodged as you eat. Additionally, these teeth are not as susceptible to wear and tear as your natural teeth would be.

Simpler, quicker procedure: The all-on-6 procedure is much quicker than having to place an implant for each tooth. This surgical procedure saves you time in both treatment and recovery.

Benefits the jaw: Implants prevent atrophy of the jaw bone (bone loss) and the consequent sinking of the face. This is common with other methods of false teeth replacement. Placing implants reinforces the jaw and gives you the confidence to smile without any hesitation.

Who performs the surgery and how does it work?

The computer-guided surgery is performed by our implant expert Dr Sheng Zhang. We are extremely experienced, having performed more of this type of surgery than any other dentist in Australasia. Dr Sheng places the implants using computer guided surgery using the keyhole technique. This procedure should be complete in just a couple of hours.

This means that post-operative pain and swelling are negligible. Once the implants are in place, and the area is healed, we will produce a full set of natural looking teeth that we will permanently fix onto the six implants. Now you have an attractive smile, all your teeth, and a permanent solution to tooth loss.

How will all-on-six help?

The all-on-six means you can speak clearly again – without the worry of losing your denture while you are talking. It also means that you can eat properly. Implant retained dentures actually increase the effectiveness of eating from 50% (with just a denture) to 95% of natural teeth. Better still, in the long term the implants actually prevent jawbone shrinkage so stop your face sinking with age.

How to care for your all on 6 dental treatment

Immediately after the procedure, you will given information about how to care for your new implants and have scheduled check-ups to ensure that the implants are stabilising as they should be. Once your replacement teeth have been fixed in, you will only be asked to come in for routine checks on an annual basis.

The cost?

The total cost for this procedure is usually around $27,000. This is not all paid up front but over the course of the treatment which, including the healing process, takes 6 to 8 months. Or if you want an immediate result we can put on temporary fixed teeth on the same day for an additional cost. Don’t worry – you never leave our offices without teeth, so even immediately after the surgery, your denture can be popped right over the site while the healing takes place.

Too expensive?

If this is a bit too much of an investment, you do have the less expensive option of fewer implants and a denture which snaps on and off – have a look at the difference between these two options here. The price for an implant retained over-denture ranges from $6000!
