Orthodontics is a field that offers treatment options to correct misalignment of teeth. There are multiple treatment options that a patient can take advantage of. At Dental Artistry, we offer a wide range of orthodontic treatments that are personalised according to your case and comfort levels. Take a look at the various treatment options we offer:

Metal braces
These are the most traditional form of braces and involve the use of metal brackets and wires that are attached to the teeth to alter their positions and align them better. A recent technological addition is the use of heat-activated arch-wires. These make use of natural heat in the mouth to encourage teeth to move quicker than they normally do and with less discomfort. Metal braces are the most wallet-friendly treatment option available. They are, however, the most visible and may make you conscious of your appearance. At Dental Artistry, we use smaller brackets that are “self ligated”, meaning that they are less bulky and allow movement of the teeth. Fun coloured elastics may also be added for kids.

Ceramic braces
In terms of functionality, ceramic braces emulate the above. What sets this type apart is that it is made of ceramic to match the natural colour of your teeth, so are less obvious. Ceramic braces are priced higher but are often chosen for long term treatments for their ability to be inconspicuous.

Invisalign
Invisalign is a very popular form of orthodontics at Dental Artistry. This method does not use brackets and wires but utilises custom molded plastic aligners that are placed on the teeth. A set is created for every stage of the treatment period. When one stage is over, the old set is removed and replaced with the next set. The average number of aligners used to reach the right alignment is around 18 to 30. This is often the preferred type of treatment as the aligners are not visible, are comfortable to wear, and provide the freedom to eat and drink anything. They also allow the normal cleaning of your teeth. However, they can be an expensive investment and are largely used to correct smaller dental issues.

Self-ligating braces
Braces of this design use clips to keep the wires of the brace in position. Using clips rather than elastic cuts down on friction while also helping to keep both teeth and the braces clean. The results achieved with this form of braces are as good as its metal counterpart. It is known to offer more accurate and precise tooth alignment.

The need to create space within a patient’s jaw is very common during orthodontic treatments. At Dental Artistry, we offer non-extraction orthodontics that helps our patients keep as many of their natural teeth as they can.

With this approach, we can also prevent possible after-effects of extraction such as gum recession or bone deterioration, which commonly occur with extraction orthodontics.

We have a full face approach and want every patient to have aesthetic facial results, not just straight teeth. We utilise the latest in treatment options, including functional appliances that operate similarly to retainers. These can be removable and offer great results without dental surgery. It also means that you will feel the least possible amount of discomfort all through your treatment.

At Dental Artistry, we prefer avoiding surgery as much as possible. Non-surgical orthodontic treatments can be used to treat moderate skeletal malocclusions, in tandem with any of the following treatment elements, or a combination of several:

• Arch expander
• Upper and/ or lower fixed and removable appliances to either expand the jaws or move them forward
• Rubber elastics for class II and III malocclusions
• Headgear to wear during sleep only

Such non-surgical orthodontic treatments offer great results in young patients who have a hyper-divergent growth pattern. In most cases, a mix of fixed and orthopaedic appliances yields the best results. Another major advantage is that non-surgical orthodontics is the ideal alternative option for patients worried about surgery and the recovery period associated with it, not to mention the discomfort.
