Dr Sara Stockham

Principal Dentist

Dr. Sara Stockham is one of the principal Dentists at Dental Artistry. She has relocated from Sydney to lead our Dental Artistry team and we cannot be more excited to have her. Sara has a keen interest in general health, nutrition, fitness, and holistic care. This has shaped much of her dental career and research, being interested in ways dentistry can affect general health and vice versa!

Dr. Stockham has been worked in the dental industry for over 20 years, starting as a dental assistant, where she first found her passion for teeth. Sara and Sheng have known each other for several years, having completed two degrees together! Dr. Stockham offers orthodontic treatment, digital smile cosmetic dentistry and general dentistry. She provides anti-wrinkle injections and lip/dermal filler, as well as advanced dento-facial treatments and anti-ageing procedures.

Sara loves to learn! Not only is she always listening to podcasts, but she also topped both her Dental Degree and Diploma in Orthodontics. She has completed a residency in snoring and sleep apnoea and has a Masters in Orthodontics with a thesis on the effect of tongue-tie on breastfeeding and growth. She welcomes any questions from parents struggling with breastfeeding or curious about tongue tie.

Sara has travelled overseas to present research and volunteer for underprivileged children.

She is a Fellow of the International Academy of Dento-Facial Esthetics (FIADFE), and The Pierre-Fauchard Academy (PFA) and in Australia, was a clinical supervisor for dentists practising orthodontics.

Sara loves the beach, travelling, art and animals. She used to be a competitive athlete and when not at the practice, you can find Sara at a cafe, exploring NZ, at the gym or relaxing with her rescue ragdoll cat named Murray (Muz).

Dr Sheng Zhang

Principal Dentist

BDS (Adel), BOH (Syd), MDSc Periodontics & Implantology (UJI), GradDip Orthodontics (JCU), FRACDS, FIDIA, FIADFE

Dr Zhang is a bilingual general dentist speaking fluent Mandarin. He performs all facets of implant dentistry, gum treatment (periodontics), and orthodontic treatment at our practice. He is also certified in airway dentistry and aviation dentistry.

Dr Zhang completed a Bachelor of Oral Health from University of Sydney and Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide where he was awarded the University Medal. Upon graduation he served as a Dental Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force and was Senior Dental Officer of No. 2 Expeditionary Health Squadron. He has further post graduate qualifications in orthodontics and specialist training in periodontics with a sub specialisation in implants from Spain.

Dr Zhang enjoys all facets of dentistry but his passion for periodontology led him to study Master Courses at the prestigious University of Bern in Switzerland focusing on gum surgery and implant dentistry. He has personally been mentored by the greatest European and American specialists in the field of dental implants, bone grafting, gum disease management, gum regeneration, recession coverage and implant rescues. In addition, Dr Zhang is one of a select few dentists in Australia and New Zealand certified in the revolutionary Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr Zhang is a Key Opinion Leader for multiple implant companies and a consultant for many others. He shares his knowledge as the lead trainer for Dental Artistry Academy and lectures worldwide. Previously, he was also a clinical educator and examiner at the University of Sydney Dental School. He prides himself on staying up to date with the latest dental procedures and technologies with an admirable record of completing over 150 hours of continuing professional development every year. An academic at heart, Dr Zhang regularly publishes in dental journals and authored a thesis introducing a new technique for maxillary sinus lift grafts using patients own biomaterials (Alb-CGF).

Dr Zhang enjoys treating patients of all ages and his caring, calm, relaxed demeanour and patient centred health care philosophy makes him especially popular with those who experience dental anxiety. With his vast clinical experience he can help guide patients through the most challenging cases while delivering consistent exceptional results. His ability to speak fluent Mandarin makes him a great asset in servicing the Chinese community of Auckland.

Professional Associations And Memberships –

Dr Zhang is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) and serves on the New Zealand committee guiding others through their Fellowship journey. He is also a fellow of the International Dental Implant Association (IDIA) and the International Association for Dental Facial Aesthetics (IADFE). Dr Zhang was the founder of the Sydney Dental Study Club and a member of the International Team for Implantology. He is a member of the Auckland Dental Association and the New Zealand Dental Association.

Outside Of The Practice –

Dr Zhang is an avid traveller and loves to experience new cultures and taste their cuisines. While abroad he likes to network with like-minded dental professionals, learning their secrets and newest techniques. He has a passion for cooking and can often be found entertaining friends at home with his signature dishes such as Sheng’s Satay Chicken. Due to his love of food, he burns off the calories playing indoor Volleyball at a competitive level. One day he would like to own a doggy café serving up Puppuccinos and Espoochos.

Dr Sarah Cole

Associate Dentist

BDS (Otago)

Sarah has been in practice for 35 years, graduating from Otago Dental School in 1981. In her early years, she practised in London where her husband Nick was completing specialist training. She is a highly experienced practitioner, who is passionate about dentistry and who can give you the best advice regarding preventative and restorative dentistry.

Professional Associations And Memberships –

Sarah is a member of the NZ Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, along with the Auckland Dental Association and the New Zealand Dental Association.

Outside Of The Practice –

Sarah is married to her periodontist husband Nick, has 3 children and 2 British Blues. Apart from her family, her great loves include golf, tennis, skiing, bridge and reading. She has also been involved for many years in charity work but most recently has turned her energies to fundraising for the Royal NZ Ballet.

Katie Maahs

Dental Hygienist

RDH

Katie comes to us from the mountain state of Utah, USA. She acquired he degree from Salt Lake Community college in 2007. Shortly after graduating, she came across an opportunity to work at a premiere dental practice in Auckland CBD and along with her husband, she migrated to New Zealand. Once they stepped off the boat onto Waiheke Island, they never looked back! Happily she remains there with her two young kiwi kids, Zuzu and Ari – enjoying good wine, great food and plenty of wide open spaces.

Her career thus far has been set to a high level of professional excellence. Through continuing education, mentorship and leading-edge dental practices, Katie has worked with the latest advancements in the clinical setting. Exciting procedures such as risk assessments, saliva testing, erosion identification, periodontal therapy, prosthodontic and implant maintenance – these are all at the forefront of her profession. Katie prides herself in her skills to properly address the risk factors that prevent a healthy stable mouth aimed for longevity.

All of the experience that she has accumulated over the years directly translate into the care and maintenance of the people who rely on her to guide them towards a happy healthy smile. She has a strong ethos of educating people and encourage them to take responsibility and control of their own oral health. Her communications is done with compassion and empathy knowing everyone comes from different backgrounds. She absolutely loves working at Dental Artistry and believes that together with the rest of the team, anyone can acquire their dream smile!

Laura Martin

Dental Hygienist

BHSc OH

Laura joined the Dental Artistry family in 2019, after having some time off to start her own family. She and her husband Rainier have two young daughters, Adia and Lola and a black Labrador named Cilla.

Laura has a long history in the dental field, achieving her dental assisting qualification while in High School and working part time at her fathers Dental Practice on the North Shore. Laura then graduated from the Auckland University of Technology in 2009 with a Bachelor of Health Science Degree, and was awarded first in class for Oral Health education and communication. She has since travelled twice to Cambodia to volunteer her skills in Phnom Penh and surrounding underprivileged provincial communities, and spent a few years living and working abroad in London.

Laura takes a special interest in complex periodontal cases and working with the anxious; Laura’s natural warm and bubbly personality will put even the most nervous at ease. She likes to keep up to date with latest developments by regularly attending national and international events and conferences to ensure her patients are always receiving best quality care.

When she’s not working in the practice, Laura is busy running after her two girls. They love spending time outside, especially at the beach, and this year she and her husband plan to try do some more short hikes across New Zealand with their girls in tow-any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Cathy Chen

Oral Health Therapist

Bachelor of Health Science - Oral Health

Cathy graduated initially with a Masters Degree in Dentistry in China and worked there for 4 years as an endodontist. She moved to New Zealand with her family in 2013 and in New Zealand trained as an Oral Health Therapist, graduating from Auckland University of Technology in 2020. Since graduating Cathy has worked in private practice as both a dental hygienist and also Oral Health Therapist, performing dental therapy on children. Cathy’s exceptional clinical skills and experience, and her passion for preventing gum disease have meant a seamless transition into the Dental Artistry team.

Elisha Sciarone

Business Manager

Elisha has worked in dentistry since she was 18. Clinically she is passionate about Orthodontics and spent 7 years assisting young kids grow and get their perfect smile. She is experienced in all aspects of looking after a patient from entering the Patient Lounge through to care in the surgery. As the business manager, she really enjoys looking after Dental Artistry as a whole – the team, patients, and external relationships with the wider dental community.

Elisha has Dutch parents and heritage. She is a budding kombucha brewer and vegetable grower, she lets her garden inspire her evening cooking. Elisha and her husband have two children, their aging ex-racing Greyhound, Grizz, and young daughter, Rose.

Elisha founded the Dental Artistry Book Club with Daniel.

Fun fact: Greyhounds lack an enzyme in their saliva meaning they are susceptible to tartar build up and gingivitis. To counter this, Greyhounds should have their teeth brushed regularly. Grizz is managing well with this addition to his nightly routine.

Daniel Kitchen

Office and Academy Manager

Daniel joined the Dental Artistry team after 8 years in retail management. Utilising his customer service background and calm and cheerful personality, Daniel strives to ensure that everyone who walks though the doors at Dental Artistry has a positive experience. After a few years on the front desk learning the ins and outs of the admin side of dentistry, Daniel was promoted to Office and Academy Manager, where he continues to care for our patients and students.

Born and raised in Auckland, Daniel has experience as a freelance copywriter, subtitle transcriptionist, and has studied literature, film and photography. Outside of work he loves reading, video games, Japanese food, playing badminton with his friends and going to cafes. Daniel co-founded the Dental Artistry Book Club with Elisha.

Keira Lupton

Patient Coordinator

Keira was born and raised in rural northwest Auckland. She has always worked in customer service roles as she loves meeting and helping new people. In her free time Keira enjoys going out with friends and spending time with family. Keira also loves all things beauty and makeup related.

Dayna Vlasich

Patient Coordinator

Dayna recently graduated Auckland University of Technology in 2023 with a degree in Communications, majoring in Public Relations. Dayna joined Dental Artistry after two years working in customer service and retail. She loves creating meaningful connections with people and thrives in a fast paced environment.

Outside of work, Dayna spends most of her time with family and friends. She loves doing reformer Pilates, and it has become a very important part of her weekly routine. Since she was young, Dayna has also had a passion for all things beauty related.

Allie Robertson

Clinical Assistant

Allie has been working as a general and surgical dental assistant for over a decade, primarily in Periodontics, Implantology and Oral Surgery.
She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience, having trained dentists in both New Zealand and internationally in Implantology.

Outside of business hours, and when possible, Allie likes to travel the world. Her favourite places are Prague, Budapest and Barcelona!
She also loves to cook and bake, as well as go to the gym. Allie has a beautiful Rottwieler called Bellatrix and a Bengal-cross cat called Walter, who also keep her occupied.

Emma Lund

Clinical Assistant

Emma joined Dental Artistry in 2023. Emma has had a long history in the dental field, since high school she has worked part time at her father’s Orthodontic practice in Rotorua. After some studies in Dunedin and Auckland she has discovered a passion for dentistry and plans to study Dental Assisting. Outside of work Emma loves exploring the live music events and food markets that Auckland has to offer. In her spare time she loves reading, watching movies, skiing, cycling and going to the beach. Emma is a member of the Dental Artistry Book Club.

Sai Jongjaroenchaisakul

Clinical Assistant

Sai hails from Thailand, the land of picturesque beaches and incredible food. She joined Dental Artistry in 2023 after finding a passion for the dental profession in 2022. Sai is an barista and can make a killer flat white. In her spare time she loves to relax with her husband and teenage son. She is a woman of many talents! Sai is a pocket rocket building apprentice and manages her husband’s small business, she loves to cook both traditional and contemporary Thai food, makes hand-woven bags, soaps and gifts that she sells online. Sai is also a Tick Tock pro, often featuring her lovable labrador Jino, all while learning Mandarin and studying Dental Assisting.
